So far I'm extremely pleased with this pump. On low speed it moves about as much water as the old unit it replaced (an intex "0.95hp" pump), is so quiet I can hardly hear it, and uses 1/2 the power (2.8A (measured) vs 6.2A (rated)).

It amazes me how much more water it moves on its high setting (even though it claims the same rated HP as the old pump): with my current filter I can only use the high speed setting for backwashing or recirculating, since trying to filter on high forces sand out of the filter and into the pool.

All in all, I'm very glad I went with the two speed model, rather than the 1.5hp single speed model I had been contemplating.

This is a great pump. We've never owned a pool before so we didn't know what we were doing. I'm glad we bought this 2 speed pump because it works really good and is SO QUIET. I thought it would be much louder. It shipped fast and was a great price!

I bought this as a replacement for one that was damaged in a brownout. I purposely bought one with 2 speeds so I could turn it down and save on power consumption but it is so low that it is not usable in low. I also notice this one is MUCH louder then the last one. I can hear it in the house from behind the garage and that makes NO sense to me. Not sure why it is so loud...
It has worked and has been reliable so far.. So this is really a mixed review. Not sure it was worth the extra money for a multi speed pump that I can only use one speed.
